Liberica — One of the three original coffee species, native to Liberia in West Africa and widely planted in South-East Asia after the 19th-century leaf rust epidemic; instantly recognisable.

Woody, smoky, savoury and tropical-fruited with a heavy body and low acidity; best brewed with a coarse grind and lower water temperature.

Brewing Tip

88-90°C, 1:14 ratio, coarse grind - avoid over-extraction, which turns woody.
